Meet Marcus
Over his 27-year career, Marcus Sarazin has gained a wealth of experience across both public and private sectors. After earning his CPA, Marcus began his journey with one of the most prestigious firms in the world—Ernst & Young—serving in their audit division. His pursuit of growth didn’t stop at the top—because Marcus believes real success isn’t about status, but about living with conviction and leading with purpose.
In pursuit of growth and meaningful impact, Marcus and his growing family ventured to Vermont, where he split his time between a local CPA firm and serving as Director of a youth adventure camp with Pathway Ministries.

Upon returning to Minnesota, Marcus spent a decade with Deluxe Corporation, working first in External Reporting and later as the Corporate General Accounting Manager. Eventually, the call to build something of lasting value drew him away from corporate life. He took on a leadership role in higher education—as Assistant Controller and later Controller of a Christian university in St. Paul—while also earning his real estate license and launching a residential real estate business alongside his wife, Katina. Together, they quickly learned the realities and rewards of small business ownership.
It was in late 2021 that Marcus discovered a deeply under-served need: small businesses lacking high-caliber financial accounting and bookkeeping support. What began as a spark has since become a mission. With each client served, the demand for precision, clarity, and excellence in outsourced accounting is reaffirmed—and Marcus continues to rise to meet that demand.
Meet Katina
As Director of Business Development at Lodestar Financials, Katina Sarazin is the driving force behind strategic growth and new client partnerships. With a strong background in sales, customer service, and problem solving, Katina excels at building authentic relationships and uncovering opportunities that align with Lodestar’s mission.
She’s focused on helping business owners discover how Lodestar brings order, direction, and excellence to their financial operations. Katina leads with curiosity, insight, and care—ensuring each potential client feels seen, heard, and supported from the very first conversation. A devoted wife to Marcus, and proud mother of four, she brings the same level of commitment and purpose to her professional life that she does to her home.
Founder’s Story
After a 24-year career in Corporate Accounting, Marcus Sarazin’s professional journey took a pivotal turn in 2022—one that would ultimately lead to the founding of Lodestar Financials. That year, he joined a family-owned accounting services firm in his home state of Minnesota, stepping into the role of Fractional Controller for a portfolio of small to mid-sized businesses.
Transitioning from the corporate world to working directly with entrepreneurs reignited Marcus’ passion for accounting. He saw firsthand the significant need for high-quality, dependable financial accounting in the small business sector.

Over the next two years, the Sarazin family of six felt a growing call toward San Diego, California—home of Awaken Church, which they had attended virtually since early 2021. In 2023, following what they believed was a clear direction from God, the Sarazins made the bold decision to relocate. They acquired a book of business from Marcus’ previous firm, packed up their lives, and moved west—committed to starting fresh and building a legacy.
Lodestar Financials officially launched in September 2023, born out of a clear vision: to bring clarity, excellence, and strategic guidance to small business finances—anchored by the principles of integrity, service, and leadership.
